Aromatic Research Quality Appraisal Taskforce (ARQAT)

In January 2021, Marian Reven and many other researchers, scholars, and aromatic practitioner colleagues from around the globe formed the Aromatic Research Quality Appraisal Taskforce (ARQAT) to bring attention to the state of science in aromatics.

The association ARQAT, based in the United States, has developed a quality appraisal tool to evaluate the quality of clinical aromatherapy research reports.

The article describes how to use the grid called TREATS “Transparent Reporting for Essential Oils & Aroma Therapeutic Studies” to assess the quality of a published study using a list of precise parameters to be evaluated.

The Gattefossé Foundation funds open access to this article in order to spread as widely as possible, what are the quality criteria for writing and conducting clinical research.
