More effective care for post-stroke patients

Rachida Dzogang, a nurse trained in aromatherapy, and Mme Courtat, a healthcare manager in neurology, lead the AROMA team. The purpose of their “AromàMantes” project is to provide safe protocols to improve patient care in different departments of the hospital.

Aromatic protocols have been used in the neurology and geriatrics departments since December 2023. These protocols aim to provide non-drug solutions for:

  • Sleep disorders: two “sleep” synergies are being used for the benefit of insomnia patients.
  • Stress and anxiety: a synergy of “relaxation” is proposed for patients who are anxious.
  • Quality of Life at Work: specific synergies are used for night care teams, including an “energizing” synergy and two synergies for sleep disorders.

The paramedical research team would like to conduct a clinical trial in the Neurovascular Intensive Care Unit to evaluate the effectiveness of aromatherapy in treating anxiety in post-stroke patients. The grant will fund the purchase of diffusion equipment and raw materials, as well as training for the unit’s health care professionals.
